## About Exa with LuumenAI

Connect Exa and your agent can search the web, pull page text and summaries, and check on research tasks while you stay in the terminal. Useful when an incident points at a vendor status page, a CVE writeup, or a changelog you have not read yet. Research tasks, websets, and imports are changes, so they are previewed and approved before they run.

## Example tools

- `EXA_ANSWER` — Generates a direct, citation-backed answer to a clear natural language question or topic using Exa's search, adept at both specific answers and detailed summaries for open-ended queries.
- `EXA_GET_AGENT_RUN` — Retrieve an Agent run to inspect its status, output, citations, usage, or cost.
- `EXA_GET_API_KEY` — Retrieve details of a specific API key by its ID.

- `EXA_CREATE_IMPORT` — Create a new import to upload data into a Webset.
- `EXA_CREATE_MONITOR` — Create a new Monitor.
- `EXA_CREATE_RESEARCH` — Creates an asynchronous research task that explores the web, gathers sources, synthesizes findings, and returns results with citations.
- `EXA_CREATE_WEBSET` — Create a new Webset with search, import, and enrichment setup.
- `EXA_DELETE_IMPORT` — Delete an existing import.
- `EXA_DELETE_WEBSET` — Delete a Webset.

## Frequently asked questions

### How does LuumenAI connect to Exa?

Authorize once with API token. Luumen lists the scopes each action needs before you approve the connection, and credentials never appear in the chat.

### Can LuumenAI change things in Exa on its own?

Read actions answer immediately. Anything that writes is shown as a plan and requires approval by default, including the 2 actions classified as destructive. Administrators configure that per tool.

### Is there an audit trail?

Every call to Exa — read or write, approved or declined — is recorded with the actor, the input, and the result.
